Mission Ministry

The Mission Ministry of Elm Grove UMC is committed to putting our faith into action by serving the needs of people locally, nationally, and internationally.

Although our committee meets only four times a year, our ministry is active throughout the year. From providing meals and clothing to helping families in times of crisis, we look for opportunities to share God’s love through practical acts of service and compassion.

Serving Our Community

Some of our ongoing mission projects and outreach efforts include:

  • Supplying our local Blessing Box
  • Serving our monthly Free Community Luncheon
  • Supporting Iney’s Pre-Loved Boutique, which provides low-cost clothing while supporting church missions
  • Providing flood relief through financial assistance, household goods, and food
  • Making duffel bags and plastic-bag mats for people experiencing homelessness or transitioning to a new home
  • Helping individuals and families with emergency needs as they arise
  • Supporting local charitable organizations, including the Soup Kitchen

Mission Project of the Month

Through our Mission Project of the Month, our congregation collects needed items that are then delivered to local organizations and groups.

  • Local Veterans

Reaching Beyond Our Community

Our mission work extends beyond our local community as well. Whenever possible, we support and send volunteers on short-term mission trips through West Virginia Volunteers in Mission, giving members an opportunity to serve in communities throughout the region and beyond.

AMEN Players

Each January, our AMEN Players present an annual dinner theater event that serves as our major Mission Ministry fundraiser. This special evening brings our church and community together for fellowship, entertainment, and an opportunity to support our mission work.

You don't have to be a member of the Mission Ministry committee to make a difference. There are many ways to serve, whether you have an hour to volunteer, items to donate, a talent to share, or simply a desire to help someone in need.
