A Community of Believers
Elm Grove United Methodist Church offers several small groups that will provide an opportunity for each of us to go more in depth with our religious beliefs. These groups can run from a couple of weeks up to 8 weeks and will meet on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Thursdays. All groups will come together on the 3rd Thursday for the Body and Soul Service. When these groups conclude, new groups will be offered. The format will be light supper served at 6pm followed by a study. No group will run later than 8pm. This will make it possible to share rides as everyone will come and go at the same time.
Studies currently offered:
- Praying in the messiness of Life – Ruth Ellen Fise
- Can Anything Good Come From Seinfeld? – Rev. Carpenter
- Understanding Spiritual Gifts – Peggy Laing
- Sitcoms are humorous because they deal with life as it is and people where we are. Faith in action is supposed to meet us where we are and move us closer to where we should be. Consequently, each sesion begins with the levity and humor in the show. Through a series of related thought-provoking questions, the ideas lead naturally to the soul-searching questions posed for individual reflection at the end of each session.
Upcoming Studies:
- Leadership Development Training – Todd Kimpel and Rev. Carpenter
Please prayerfully consider these opportunities to enrich your faith.
If anyone needs a ride to the church for the study, please call the church office.
